These patterns are mapped to VAD emotional state space (Valence, Arousal, Dominance) to produce Confidence, Warmth, and Authority coaching scores in real time.
What is the FACS system?
The Facial Action Coding System (FACS) is the most rigorously validated framework for decomposing facial expressions into individual muscle movements called Action Units. Developed by Paul Ekman and Wallace Friesen, FACS identifies 44 discrete AUs that can be reliably observed and measured. EchoDepth analyses all 44 in real time during sales coaching sessions.
What does VAD stand for?
Valence, Arousal, Dominance. A three-dimensional model for representing emotional state. Valence = positive or negative quality. Arousal = intensity or activation. Dominance = perceived control and confidence. EchoDepth maps facial Action Unit patterns to VAD space to produce nuanced coaching feedback that goes beyond simple positive/negative classification.
What is Emotional Decision Intelligence?
Emotional Decision Intelligence (EDI) is the ability to recognise, measure, and deliberately control the emotional signals that influence how decisions are made. In enterprise sales, EDI determines whether a rep's message builds buyer trust or erodes it. EchoDepth trains EDI through real-time FACS-based feedback during avatar coaching sessions.

What hardware does EchoDepth require?
A standard webcam (720p minimum) and microphone. No VR headset, no depth sensor, no specialist hardware. EchoDepth works on any enterprise laptop with Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. This is a deliberate design decision — accessibility for distributed and remote-first sales teams is a prerequisite for enterprise scale.

Does EchoDepth use facial recognition?
No. EchoDepth analyses patterns of muscle movement (Action Units) to infer emotional state. It does not identify who someone is and does not store biometric identity data. It is a coaching tool that analyses emotional expression during voluntary practice sessions — not a surveillance or identity tool.
Is EchoDepth GDPR compliant?
Yes. Cavefish Ltd is registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO: ZB915633). Data is processed under UK GDPR. Session data is used exclusively for the participant's coaching — no biometric profiles are stored, no data is sold to third parties, and data residency within the UK is standard. On-premise processing is available for organisations with strict requirements.
How much does EchoDepth for Sales cost?
EchoDepth for Sales is in private beta. Pricing is based on team size and use case and is discussed during an introductory call. There are no public pricing tiers during beta. No credit card is required to start the conversation. Request access to discuss pricing for your team.
Does EchoDepth integrate with Salesforce or HubSpot?
CRM integrations are on the product roadmap. During the private beta, EchoDepth operates as a standalone coaching platform. Admin dashboard analytics can be exported. Contact the team to discuss specific integration requirements for your organisation.

What is a Composure Score?
Composure Score is an EchoDepth metric reflecting a rep's ability to maintain stable emotional performance under objection pressure. It measures how much a rep's Confidence and Authority scores fluctuate when a buyer pushes back. High composure = small fluctuation. Trained through repeated exposure to avatar-led pressure scenarios.
How many Action Units does EchoDepth analyse?
44. The full FACS-compliant set. EchoDepth analyses all 44 facial Action Units simultaneously in real time — not a subset. This is the same standard used in academic emotion research and validated across 14 cultural cohorts in 6 countries.
